Oscars: Justin Timberlake and John Legend among performers


Justin Timberlake and John Legend are among the names performing at this year's Oscars. Sting and star of Broadway musical Hamilton Lin-Manuel Miranda have also been confirmed to play at the ceremony. They'll be performing the five songs nominated for best original song throughout the evening. The Oscars, which will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, will take place on 26 February. John Legend won the best original song Oscar in 2014 for Glory, which he wrote with Common for the film Selma Two of La La Land's record-equalling 14 Oscar nominations are in the best original song category. Both tracks, Audition (The Fools Who Dream) and City of Stars, will be performed by John Legend. The tracks were written by Justin Hurwitz, Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. Jimmy Napes and Sam Smith won the best original song category in 2016 for Writing's on the Wall from Spectre This is the fourth time Sting has been nominated for best original song Sting will be singing The Empty Chair, which he wrote for Jim: The James Foley Story. The documentary is an in-depth look at the life of American journalist James Foley who was killed by terrorists in 2014. Lin-Manuel Miranda (right) and Auli'i Cravalho (c) will perform a track from Moana, Nicole Scherzinger also sings in the film Lin-Manuel Miranda will be joined by Auli'i Cravalho to play How Far I'll Go, which they wrote for Disney animation Moana. It'll be the first time he's performed at the Oscars.
