Allegations against me made no sense :Senate president Bukola saraki

- The Senate President Bukola Saraki hassaid that the charges leveled against him by the federal government made no sense- At his re-arraignment on Thursday before Justice Danladi Umar of the Codeof Conduct Tribunal, Saraki made his plea stating that all allegations in charges against were frivolous- The Senate President said his trial is politically motivated and the allegations 'made no sense'The Senate President Bukola Saraki has said that the charges leveled against him by the federal government made no sense.At his re-arraignment on Thursday before Justice Danladi Umar of the Codeof Conduct Tribunal, Saraki made his plea stating that all allegations in charges against were frivolous.The Senate President said his trial is politically motivated and the allegations'made no sense'.However, despite his pronouncement, the prosecution witness Samuel Madojemu, an official of the Code of Conduct Bureau told the court that the Senate President failed to capture his property at No: 15A and 17A McDonald street, Ikoyi Lagos in his asset declaration form.Madejemu said most of the documents tendered as exhibits were obtained by EFCC operatives and validated by the CCB.Saraki was re-arraigned at the CCT after the prosecution amended charges against him.Three additional charges were slammedon the Senate President who was earlierfacing a 13-count charge before Justice Umar at the CCT.The amended charge bordered on false declaration of asset and money laundering during his tenure as the governor of Kwara state between 2003 and 2011.The fresh charges were filed on February 8, by the led prosecution counsel, Rotimi Jacobs after many prosecution witnesses have given their testimonies before the tribunal.However, the trial judge in his ruling today said, the court was compelled to give a short ruling to allow the defence team study the new charge.Umar further adjourned the matter to Thursday, March 2, for commencement of trial.
