President Buhari's speech was brutally open and candid - Lekan Fatodu writes
As Nigerians continue to react to President Buhari's7am speech today, journalist,Lekan Fatodu has also lent his voice saying the speech was brutally open and candid'.Read his full piece below...President Muhammadu Buhari is a retired General and former military head of a Nigerian government who millions of Nigerians voted back to power particularly for his integrity and commitment to FIGHTING CORRUPTION.
Right? The man is not known as a General in Letters. And you all know this. Right? And whether in jest or not, he has never hidden this.In fact, Buhari just recently told you all that he had just learnt to obey orders.“I have learnt to obey my doctors’ orders rather than being the one issuing the orders. Here, the doctors are absolutely in charge," he told his media team who visited him in London and wanted to know when he would return home. The man is that jocular and brutally open and candid, part of why you all voted for him, I reckon. Right? And he has just brought these known characteristics into his speech this morning but many have started whining.Listen, having the man pretendto be who he's not in his speech this morning by promising Utopian on economy and other concerns is a form of corruption itself.Buhari has simply and sincerely enunciated his areas of strength in the affairs of the nation, and you are still expecting him to go beyond those. Inconceivable. You passionately promoted and encouraged Nigerians to buy Made-in-Nigeria Dangote spaghetti and you are expecting it to taste like the foreign Barilla pasta. That is insincerity. And this man doesn't trade in mendacity. But thankfully, as many of you have affirmed, the brilliant Professor, Vice President Osinbajo is handling the economy and working assiduously to make the economy better.
And it's understood that the VP will be given more latitude on this and other areas of his strength. Yes, you voted both of them to work as a team andthey have remained one in bad and good moments. Right?Inconvenient as it may be, that's the truth about the speech and present outlook of the nation.
